The start of this new venture – Hamblin Vision Publishing – is an exciting prospect for those who have been followers of Hamblin’s teachings through the Hamblin Trust. To know that the work of re-publishing many of Hamblin’s older books will continue after the closure of the Trust is very heartening and it is, of course, to the heart that Hamblin speaks. His writing is not deeply metaphysical or orientated to the intellect, but to the heart through the practical application of simple principles – not for nothing is the compilation of his study course entitled ‘The Way of the Practical Mystic’.
In this increasingly complex world in which we live, the need for practical simplicity becomes ever more important, not the simplicity of administration in our everyday transactions with society but the simplicity of our needs. Not the need to respond to the clamour of everyday life and its ceaseless demands, fashions and enticements but the need to respond to something deeper, the voice of our inner selves seeking to find space in our busy lives to guide and inspire us and to lead us gently on our own unique path towards spiritual growth.
Today, more than ever, the world needs lives to be inner-directed, focused on love, wisdom and the greater good to counteract the superficiality and negativity of daily life and Hamblin’s books provide the simple guidance required to re-focus our lives. By offering clear, understandable principles, Hamblin helps us to re-orientate our focus to work in harmony with spiritual laws, to exercise a degree of humility in our thinking and to find time for what is important.
As Hamblin said in his booklet, Simple Talks on the Science of Thought:
“The original idea underlying our life is perfection, order, beauty and harmony. All the discord of life, such as sickness, disease, poverty and other negative ills, is due to a departure from the inherent and fundamental order and harmony, which are always present”.
Getting back into alignment with ‘the inherent and fundamental order and harmony’ is what Hamblin’s teachings are intended to achieve. The processes involved are relatively simple to understand but putting them into practice is, of course, not always so easy. To change our habitual ways of thinking, to make time for meditation and inner reflection, to learn to react positively to the setbacks and difficulties that may affect our lives takes thought, application and constant re-focusing.
It can also happen that, after the first flush of enthusiasm, life takes over and we unconsciously drift back into old habits, forgetting the new disciplines that we have started and sinking back into familiar ways of living. It is not irrecoverable of course and we can soon get back into the new patterns that we aspire to but sometimes it helps to rediscover the original teachings that inspired us to start us off on this new path in the first place. And that is why having other versions of the teachings in different books can help to re-motivate us to re-assume our chosen path and, by reading some of Hamblin’s older books, we can re-kindle our enthusiasm. So, I welcome very much the emergence of Hamblin Vision Publishing and their desire to continue to re-publish all of Hamblin’s earlier works. This will ensure we have the opportunity to re-kindle our desire to live a more harmonious life, enhanced by the joy of love and service and through developing our inner communion with the source of all life and all goodness – God.
Hamblin also wrote:
“The more we allow God to work through us the less strain there is in life. We do not have to plan, strive and strain to achieve, but simply allow the perfect Divine Plan concerning our life to unfold … All that we have to do is to live one day at a time, dealing as faithfully as possible with each experience, every one of which we have ourselves attracted; every one of which is also necessary, and has for its aim our highest good” (The Life of the Spirit)
Hamblin Vision Publishing describe themselves as ‘a small publisher focused on bringing transformative, spiritual and wellness information to our readers’. H T Hamblin’s books are a very solid basis from which to build on those aspirations.
Whatever books, knowledge, or information Hamblin Vision Publishing present to you in the future, they will not change your lives, only you can do that. As Hamblin wrote: “Within you is the Power”. (Divine Adjustment)
He also wrote:
“We are gods in the making whose aim is perfection, this is the glorious meaning of life to those whose eyes are blessed with true vision and whose soul has perceived this great revelation” (The Message of a Flower)
We do not become gods by serving ourselves, ours is a greater mission and, if we are to become gods, we need to be aware that we become so through service and through being ready to serve, in whatever form is appropriate for the needs of the time and our unique ability and sphere of operation. Our earthly desires have to be transmuted into spiritual aspirations. As Hamblin wrote:
“Instead of forcing our will upon life: instead of making ourselves a centre around which everything else must revolve: instead of demanding and compelling, if we would find real happiness and true satisfaction at all, we must love and serve God and man, life and the world, and thus enter into the harmony of the Whole” (The Power of Thought)
I wish this new venture every blessing and hope to see Hamblin Vision Publishing flourish over the next few years successfully bringing new information, knowledge and insight from a variety of sources that will assist in establishing health, wholeness and joy to its readers and to the world at large.
