Astrology Update on 19th October 2026

Over much of the next two weeks there could be deep consideration of self, personal identity and how one fits in with other people. Wishing to bring harmony into relationships may be at odds with how one asserts oneself. Deeper examination could reveal issues that are now ready to be addressed. At times, this might feel turbulent but it could lead to a profound inner peace in the long run.
This situation arises through the Sun and Venus being opposite to retrograde Chiron in Aries. Initially, the Sun is in Libra then moves into Scorpio while retrograde Venus in Scorpio moves back into Libra. There is an interplay of harmony and depth, maintaining poise and equilibrium while being willing to change.
This juxtaposition may be more obvious from 19th – 21st October when the Moon in Aquarius is opposite Mars and then Jupiter in Leo. It may be possible to remain impartial while recognising and honouring talents and abilities that can be of use within society. There is a difference between being self-centred and recognising one’s unique role within all of life.
These three days are also an opportunity to examine in detail the many different forms of truth and how truth is presented. While what is considered to be truth may be a little vague or uncertain, there may be more interest in topics relating to other dimensions and levels of life. This relates to the interaction between retrograde Venus in Scorpio, retrograde Uranus in Gemini and retrograde Neptune in Aries.
With Mars and Jupiter in Leo, much energy might be directed into being noticed and wanting to make an impact on the surroundings. This could seem at variance with wanting to look beneath the surface of life and think more deeply about it. The old expression ‘All that glitters is not gold’ could be relevant at this time. This is linked with the tense interaction from both Mars and Jupiter to Mercury in Scorpio.
Much of what has been written about so far is emphasised by retrograde Venus. This planet is retrograde in Scorpio until 25th October. It can be a time for considering the deeper meaning of life and examining how much of our lives is in line with core values. Our relationship to so much in life reflects the relationship between our higher self and our physical life, between spirit and matter.
Once Venus has moved back into Libra, greater harmony might be expected. However, previous concepts of harmony and what is acceptable may change. As alignment to higher values, spiritual values, continues, what was once considered right may no longer be appropriate. Action may be taken to address any shift in consciousness after Venus goes direct in the middle of November.
Deep consideration of all these factors is supported by Mercury going retrograde on 25th October and remaining retrograde for the rest of Venus’ retrograde phase. Mercury stays in Scorpio throughout this time. It is an opportunity to review emotions and emotional reactions, consider the motivation behind outer events and even to contemplate the mysteries of life.
With the two inner planets, Mercury and Venus, as well as three of the outer planets, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, all retrograde, there is much opportunity for review, both of the personal life and worldwide situations. This is not an unusual situation and it allows thorough consideration of the status quo. What is no longer in line with deeply held values may be changed and realigned with the ever-evolving consciousness.
Light is shone on this possibility while the Sun in Scorpio interacts with so many of the planets and the nodes of the Moon during the last week in October. It feels as if there is greater consideration for the bigger picture of world events. It may be a time of realisation and appreciation that change impacts not only individuals but also all life on Earth.
The full Moon in Taurus on 26th October is opposite the Sun in Scorpio. For a couple of days, the emotions may be steadier. This could lead to greater inner peace and enhance the sense of security. As this happens, there is the possibility of emotional energy being used in other ways, for instance in service. Even a small but profound inner change can have far-reaching outer effects.
In the northern hemisphere, autumn is a time of withdrawing from the activities of the summer months: from doing to being.
Keep well, stay happy.

Seeking the Soul: Through Meditations on Draconic Astrology
Patricia Godden
This book is about seeking to find out more about the soul through the means of meditation. The introduction describes what is meant by the words ‘soul’, ‘spirit’ and ‘spirituality’ and how meditation has been used for millennia to find out more about these deeper facets of the human being.
Astrology, particularly one branch of astrology called ‘draconic astrology’ is another tool that can be used to explore the soul. The author meditated on the draconic level of the planets and signs of the zodiac to find out more about the soul, its relationship to spirit and their interactions with the outer, physical level of life.
