Astrology Update on 21st September 2026Â
At the September equinox, the Sun is directly over the equator. This is the beginning of autumn and spring in the northern and southern hemispheres, respectively. The number of hours of light and darkness are approximately equal highlighting balance. The Sun enters Libra at this equinox, so thoughts and actions may be directed towards bringing harmony, fairness and balance into daily actions.
The idea of balance is further suggested by two major configurations in the sky: a harmonious grand trine involving the Sun, Moon, Uranus and Pluto complementing the tense pattern of a grand cross between Venus, Mars, Chiron and Pluto. There is a great deal of potential to bring diverse ideas into some form of service. It may take effort but address deep needs, not only of individuals but also the collective.
Until 22nd September, all elements are represented across these two configurations highlighting a time of balance. After the Sun moves from the earth sign of Virgo into the air sign of Libra on 22nd of the month, there will be no planets in earth signs for a few days. During this time, there may be more emphasis on thoughts, feelings and aspirations but it may take more effort to direct them into practical outlets.
Feelings could be strong with the opposition between Mars in Cancer and retrograde Pluto in Aquarius. It is a time for looking at how feelings and emotional reactions might be changed. What old moods, mind-sets or sympathies are no longer relevant? Sometimes a vast amount of energy is used in emotional reactions and there might be a different way of using that energy, a happier, more joyous way.
A harmonious link between Mercury in Libra and Jupiter in Leo could assist in understanding what is going on. Attempting to consider or appreciate other peoples’ opinions, even if they are different from personal opinions, can be integrated with valuing the love that flows from every human heart. This may sound idealistic but it can go a long way to easing personal and global situations.
The opposition between retrograde Chiron in Aries and Venus in Scorpio suggests that looking deeper within may help with issues relating to personal identity or self-worth. There could be a subtle shift through integrating the desire to push ahead with ones’ own projects and a deep peace that emerges from appreciating the love of spirit within each individual.
Retrograde Chiron in Aries forms harmonious interactions with the south node of the Moon in Leo and the north node in Aquarius. This is indicative of a fundamental change in humanity, from being self-centred to greater awareness of other people. It is a shift from wanting personal recognition to directing love and energy into serving others. While it might sound utopian, it could also help people appreciate how essential they are to the whole of life.
The full Moon on 26th September in Aries is opposite the Sun in Libra. This highlights the soul learning about love in action as well as consideration and understanding of other people, both themes already mentioned. It is about learning to be an individual within relationships, to have one’s own ideas and opinions while honouring the views and thoughts of others.
Mars moves from Cancer into Leo on 28th September, joining Jupiter and the south node of the Moon in this sign. This brings a choice in how energy can be used. It could be used to gain recognition and be a centre of attention with the possibility of pride or arrogance. Alternatively, energy might be directed into creative pursuits or being generous and encouraging to others.
A few days later, Mercury moves from Libra into Scorpio, joining Venus in that sign. Conversations might turn to deeper subjects or reasons behind thoughts and actions. This may reveal deeper motivations and allow consideration of whether anything needs to be changed. As a fixed sign, Scorpio can be very determined and enduring but it is always worth reviewing whether the goal is still of value.
From 26th September until the second week in October, retrograde Saturn in Aries is opposite the Sun in Libra. There may be caution in pushing ahead with new projects. Any delays allow for more complete consideration of what has been intended. This may help to ensure that imaginative initiatives manifest in the best way. While delays can be frustrating, they sometimes allow potential pitfalls to be avoided.
Keep well, stay happy.

Seeking the Soul: Through Meditations on Draconic Astrology
Patricia Godden
This book is about seeking to find out more about the soul through the means of meditation. The introduction describes what is meant by the words ‘soul’, ‘spirit’ and ‘spirituality’ and how meditation has been used for millennia to find out more about these deeper facets of the human being.
Astrology, particularly one branch of astrology called ‘draconic astrology’ is another tool that can be used to explore the soul. The author meditated on the draconic level of the planets and signs of the zodiac to find out more about the soul, its relationship to spirit and their interactions with the outer, physical level of life.
