Astrology Update on 5th October 2026
There are opportunities over the next few weeks to look beneath the surface of outer events. It may be a time of quiet introspection and consideration of issues at a deep level. This may involve examination and assessment of different facets of life to see if the outer life is still in line with inner, core values. Relationships may be looked at in the light of personal integrity.
These opportunities relate to Venus being retrograde. Venus is retrograde for about six weeks every eighteen months. Interestingly, it is retrograde in a similar place in the zodiac every eight years. This means it may be worth looking at what happened about eight years ago to see if any issues might benefit from further consideration. Unfinished business could be readdressed.
Retrograde Venus is in Scorpio until 25th October when it will go back into Libra. Over the next three weeks while Venus is still in Scorpio, there could be intense feelings about the issues being considered. Although it may sound paradoxical, this could lead to learning how to rise above the emotions to find deep inner peace.
The reassessment of life that goes on while Venus is retrograde may initially be below conscious awareness. There may then be much thought about what is right and what changes need to happen. The many different options might be weighed up carefully so the right action is ultimately taken. This relates to the interaction of three currently retrograde planets: Venus in Scorpio, Uranus in Gemini and Saturn in Aries.
During much of this time, retrograde Venus in Scorpio is opposite retrograde Chiron in Aries. Re-evaluation of self and life could lead to a better understanding of the personal status quo. There might be greater acceptance of those parts of life that cannot be changed but also a stronger desire to change what can be changed and action taken to effect those changes. This could affect the sense of self-worth.
The two rulers of Scorpio, Mars and Pluto, are opposite each other and link with Venus. Desires for personal power may be strong. However, at the same time, energy could be directed with much determination towards change within society. It is possible that the deep review of life that takes place while Venus is retrograde in Scorpio could lead to re-consideration of how personal power is used.
The new Moon in Libra on 10th October may ease the intensity of the last few days. The opposition to retrograde Saturn in Aries helps moderate rash or impetuous ideas so actions can be directed towards harmony and balance. Being able to understand other peoples’ points of view goes a long way to finding solutions that can be accepted by all parties.
On 15th October, Pluto comes to the end of its five-month long annual retrograde phase. It appears to be stationary in the sky before it commences forward motion two days later. Ideas for profound changes within society that have been emerging over the last few months may be put into operation in the weeks to come. Personal changes can contribute to global changes.
Throughout the period covered by this update, there is a harmonious link between Mars in Leo and retrograde Saturn in Aries. Much can be achieved when assertive energies are focussed and directed in a structured and disciplined manner. Although there could be much confidence, there is the potential for over-confidence to be avoided.
Mars in Leo also links harmoniously with retrograde Uranus in Gemini and retrograde Neptune in Aries for much of the next two weeks. Original and imaginative ways could be introduced into how things are organised or how projects are managed. Actions done with love can go a long way to ease the process and contribute to the desired outcome.
With the north node of the Moon in Leo, there has been experience in the past of being loving and generous. The north node of the Moon is in Aquarius, so humanity is now striving to integrate those qualities into society. While this may not be easy, there are many ways it can be done as suggested by retrograde Uranus being in Gemini. Evolution sometimes requires new and original ways to move forward.
It is a time of review of the deeper facets of life, assessing what needs to change to stay true to one’s inner sense of what is right and then making those changes with courage when the time is right.
Keep well, stay happy.

Seeking the Soul: Through Meditations on Draconic Astrology
Patricia Godden
This book is about seeking to find out more about the soul through the means of meditation. The introduction describes what is meant by the words ‘soul’, ‘spirit’ and ‘spirituality’ and how meditation has been used for millennia to find out more about these deeper facets of the human being.
Astrology, particularly one branch of astrology called ‘draconic astrology’ is another tool that can be used to explore the soul. The author meditated on the draconic level of the planets and signs of the zodiac to find out more about the soul, its relationship to spirit and their interactions with the outer, physical level of life.
